I came to engineering through sound. My degree is in Sound Engineering and Design, which is a training in signal: what goes in, what happens to it, what comes out, and where it degrades. That turns out to describe most of software too.
Much of what I know came from inheriting other people’s systems. Pipelines that broke quietly, component libraries that had drifted into three dialects, design decisions nobody could find the reason for. The work was rarely writing something new. It was making the existing thing legible enough that a team could move again.
So I build for the person who arrives after me. That means boring deployments, components that survive a rewrite, and a bias for removing things. The log below is the record.
